Who May Need Endodontic Treatment?
Bacteria may enter the tooth pulp because of trauma, deep decay, cracks, gum disease, or repeated dental procedures. Treatment removes infection and damaged tissue from inside the tooth.

What Happens During Treatment?
- Examination and discussion: the provider examines the tooth, reviews imaging, and explains treatment options.
- Access and anesthesia: local anesthesia helps keep you comfortable, and a dental dam keeps the treatment area isolated.
- Cleaning and shaping: instruments and disinfectant remove damaged tissue and prepare the canals for filling.
- Filling and sealing: the canals are filled and sealed, and a temporary restoration may be placed until the tooth receives a final crown or other restoration.
After Endodontic Treatment
Your provider will explain medication, food, and aftercare instructions. If a temporary filling was placed, return promptly for the permanent crown or restoration that protects the treated tooth and restores function.
